Each party's role

Who does what?

Diez de Cambournac and Charles

Charles limits his role to introducing people and coordinating conversations. He does not value the business, seek a buyer under a mandate or negotiate the transaction.

The professional concerned

Depending on the project, discussions may involve a business sale professional, a lawyer or another qualified adviser. No partner or mandate is assumed before confirmation.

Analysis, valuation, advice and handling of the transaction are the responsibility of the appointed professionals. No price, buyer or completion timetable is guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I contact Charles before deciding to sell?

Yes. You can explain your thinking and time horizon. An initial conversation does not commit you to selling or signing a mandate.

What about wealth matters after the sale?

These can be discussed separately at your request. Preparing for a business sale does not automatically lead to another introduction.

Before and after a business sale: two conversations to prepare

Prepare the transaction with the appropriate professionals

Identify your stage: initial planning, seeking a buyer, negotiations or a transaction already underway. Identify the advisers responsible for valuation, contracts and tax matters. For an initial introduction, the sector, country and timeline are enough; sensitive business information should be shared within an agreed framework.

Anticipate your wealth questions after the sale

Distinguish expected proceeds from funds actually available and note any commitments still to clarify with your advisers. Prepare questions about your future banking relationship, personal plans and decision timeline. This organises the discussion; it does not determine an asset allocation or tax strategy.

A separate introduction for each need

A business sale adviser and a banking contact have different roles. Charles can consider introduction possibilities for each topic with your agreement. XdC does not seek buyers under a sale mandate, value the business or guarantee a transaction or completion date.
